UK Procurement

Construction, Substation & Overhead Lines, Engineering, Core Products

UK Procurement is responsible for the procurement of almost £2bn of products, services and major works spend each year. The team supports those parts of our business that are responsible for maintaining our UK gas and electricity networks and plays an essential role in helping to keep the nation’s energy supplies flowing. Although UK–focused, the team works closely with our colleagues in the US to develop global category strategies and to share learning. UK Procurement is organised into four teams – Construction, Substation & Overhead Lines, Engineering and Core Products.

In whichever Construction related role you join us, you’ll need an understanding of contractual terms and conditions associated with NEC / FEDEC. In addition, we’ll expect you to have the ability to ‘manage up and manage down’ so that people at all levels are guided to get the job done. As these roles will see you work out of the office as much as within it, it’s also important that you’re flexible enough to travel across the UK. There’ll also be opportunities to travel and work with the US.

Procurement Operations

Goods, Services and Systems

Within Procurement Operations, we take on all indirect spend activities. That totals around £700m of spend annually, involving thousands of vendors. Most of this is managed on a regional basis across the UK and US – although IS Procurement is managed globally from our UK HQ in Warwick with regional support in the US.

We’re also accountable for Systems and Processes (the management and continuous improvement of systems, processes, contract governance and administration). Not least, we’re home to a Commercial and Performance group who provide overall financial direction, control and support across Global Procurement, along with KPIs, metrics and procurement dashboards.
